About

Collaborate, Practice, Transform

Is it hard to control stress or anxiety? Are you feeling depressed, overwhelmed or unmotivated? Having relationship issues or difficulty adjusting to a life change? Or perhaps you are a concerned parent seeking therapy for your teen. Life can be extremely hard at times, but you don't have to remain feeling stuck. Psychotherapy can help process what is weighing you down, tap into strengths, build resilience and develop new skills to manage life's challenges with greater ease. About Me Riva Gardner, LCSW is here to help you feel good again! I have 10+ years of experience working with children, youth, and families in community mental health, outpatient and school-based settings to improve mental health. I hold a Master of Science in Clinical Social Work from Columbia University, concentration in Health, Mental Health, and Disabilities. I am licensed in the state of California and TEAM-CBT level 3 certified. I offer psychotherapy to individuals ages 12 and older, in-person or online via Telehealth, and specialize in providing therapy to teens/young adults struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, life transitions, adverse experiences, trauma, stress, social pressures and overwhelming feelings. My Approach I work collaboratively with clients to set personalized therapy goals that target unique challenges and provide relief. I use evidence-based therapy methods, centering on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and incorporating eclectic, client-centered, trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, strengths-based, mindful practices tailoring therapy to each client with focus on progress toward individualized therapy goals. Therapy goals are developed collaboratively during the initial assessment process targeting client difficulties and desired outcomes. I explore how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors impact one another to assist clients in developing healthy strategies to manage and reduce symptoms. Clients leave therapy with tools to improve mental health now and longterm, with focus on feeling good again.
